Two Former Rebels Named To All-Star Baseball Game

June 25, 2001

LAS VEGAS - Former Hustlin' Rebels Toby Hall and Ryan Ludwick have been selected to play for the U.S. team in the RadioShack All-Star Futures Game held two days prior to the Major League Baseball All-Star game at Safeco Field in Seattle.

Hall is a triple-A catcher with the Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Devil Rays), while Ludwick is a double-A outfielder with the Midland Rockhounds (Oakland Athletics).

The RadioShack All-Star Futures Game will feature the top U.S. and international Minor League prospects competing against each other as part of RadioShack All-Star Sunday, July 8 at SAFECO Field in Seattle. The game will begin at 2:30 p.m. (PDT) and will be televised live on ESPN2.

Baseball America, in conjunction Major League Baseball and the 30 Major League Baseball clubs, selected the 25-man rosters for each team (U.S. Team and World Team). Each Major League organization is represented and the World Team features players from seven different foreign countries and Puerto Rico. Players from all full-season minor leagues were eligible to participate.

"Major League Baseball is thrilled to give fans the unique opportunity of seeing some of our brightest young stars from around the world compete on the same field," said Jimmie Lee Solomon, Senior Vice President, Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball. "This game showcases the exceptional abilities of these players - who represent the future of Major League Baseball - on a national stage."

Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry will manage the U.S. Team, while seven-time All-Star Minnie Minoso will manage the World Team.
